CARE Challenges

A CARE Challenge is exactly that: a challenge. It challenges you physically and is an experience like no other!

While you're soaking up the amazing sights of the Asia Pacific region, a visit to a CARE project along the way offers a rewarding opportunity that demonstrates, up close and personal, the difference you're making to the lives of others. Hear firsthand from the communities CARE helps about the positive outcomes that are empowering women and helping to overcome poverty.

A CARE Cycle Challenge typically lasts 11–14 days, including flights, and about 400–450km of cycling. A CARE trek takes about 10 days.

There are plenty of opportunities to take photos, sample the local cuisine and experience the unique culture of the country or countries you visit. There are times when your fitness may be tested, but the satisfaction you feel on completing the trip, and the camaraderie of the group you travel with, will far outweigh any tired moments.

Are you ready to accept CARE's challenge? You won't regret it.

Committing to a CARE Challenge means having a positive impact on some of the poorest communities in the world.

Past Challenges:

2010 - I am powerful Cycle Challenge

Coinciding with International Women’s Day on 8 March 2010, seven women from Australia cycled from Vietnam to Cambodia as part of CARE’s I am powerful Cycle Challenge, to raise awareness and support for CARE’s work with women.

'For everyone there, the exchange of cultures will never leave our hearts and minds – swapping information and stories, asking questions and the exchange of laughter was just so special. It just goes to show that all women around the world are the same. We think the same, we understand the same things, and at the end of the day, not speaking the language is not even a barrier.'
- Belinda, Inspired Adventures

2008 - Network Ten Laos Cycle Challenge

Network Ten challenged a group of their staff members to participate in a CARE Cycle Challenge. The team of ten courageously rode 500kms along the banks of the mighty Mekong River into the highlands of Northern Laos. They raised more than $37,000 and witnessed how their hard-earned fundraising dollars can support families living in poverty.

‘Our project visit with CARE, and seeing firsthand how the money raised has been used, was one of the most incredible moments in my life. This was truly a life-changing adventure not to be forgotten.
- Darren Biddulph, Network Ten.

2006 - AFL Vietnam Cycle Challenge

A very special CARE challenge led a group of AFL football stars around northern Vietnam by bicycle, visiting CARE projects and seeing the difference CARE's work is making. The players also made a difference themselves: helping reduce the isolation suffered by children touched by HIV/AIDS.

‘Seeing the CARE HIV/AIDS project makes you realise that no matter what problems you have back home, whether it's in footy or in life, it doesn't compare to what people affected by HIV have to go through.'
- Carlton's Dylan McLaren.
