Why I chose CARE

As a pilot, Chris Lee has had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Africa, on one of his many voyages he witnessed the positive change CARE was bringing to communities in Somalia. Here, Chris tells us why he is encouraging others to follow his lead and leave a life-changing bequest to CARE Australia that he knows will make a real difference.

"Seeing CARE’s work first hand made me want to get more involved. My wife and I were already donating to a number of charities, but we decided to become more involved with CARE Australia.

I like the idea that CARE aims to sustain the projects they work on. If they’re willing to sustain those projects, then I am willing to do what I can to sustain my support of them, and leaving a legacy is the way to do that.

There is a sense of joy in the thought of giving in the future. If you know that your contribution is going make a difference eventually, then you get to enjoy the good feeling of it now.

Updating my Will had been something I had been planning to do for some time. Knowing that my affairs are tidied up gives me peace of mind.  Circumstances change so much in life, it seems appropriate for your Will to reflect that.

I decided to leave a legacy to CARE Australia because I wanted to be more committed and involved. I enjoy being informed on where my money is going now and will go in the future and this is something CARE does very well. 

I’ve seen the difference that CARE’s work makes in places like Somalia. Though the problems can sometimes seem overwhelming, CARE’s work makes a really significant difference to individuals and their families. It makes me happy to be a little part of that, right now, and in the future."
