CARE knows that investing in women and girls is the most effective way to
help poor communities.

Women and girls in developing countries are most disproportionately affected by poverty. Often they're burdened with the back-breaking tasks of collecting water or firewood, or tending to their fields, which can take up many hours of their day. This leaves little time to attend school, access health services or earn money to support their families, which fuels the cycle of poverty.

To help address this daily challenge for millions of women and girls around the world, join Walk In Her Shoes, count the steps you take, and ask your friends and family to sponsor you.

Walk In Her Shoes is for individuals, groups of friends or colleagues, and school groups. After registering, you'll receive a welcome pack with all the information you need to get started, including a CARE pedometer to make counting your steps easy. CARE can help to tailor a fundraising campaign to suit your needs.

By pledging to walk 8,000 steps per day for one month, or as a school group, hold a walk-a-thon or challenge at your school, you'll make an important contribution to CARE's projects around the world.

Get fit, have fun and feel great!
